Cold-Brew Iced Tea

recipe image

Instead of breaking out the tea kettle in steamy summer months, brew tea bags in cold water for a naturally sweet (and less-acidic) beverage. Sip the tea straight from the jar, or screw on the lid and pack ‘em up for a picnic.
Ingredients:

  • 8 tea bags (white or green tea works best)
  • 1 large lemon, sliced

Instructions:

  1. Place the teabags in 4 (12-oz) Mason jars with lids. (You should have 2 tea bags per jar.) Pour 1½ cups of cold water into each jar. Seal the jars with the lids and refrigerate for 6 to 8 hours, or overnight.
  2. Remove the tea bags and add two lemon slices and ice to each jar. Or, experiment with different flavors, such as Ginger and Honey, Peach and Mint, Pomegranate and Lime, or Watermelon and Basil.
